The GMC says: |
"Annual whole practice appraisal is a key part of revalidation.
You must declare all the places you have worked and the roles you have carried out as a doctor since your last appraisal. You must collect supporting information that covers the whole of this practice.
It’s important you identify your whole scope of practice so you can make sure your supporting information covers all aspects of your work.

What if I have worked fewer than 40 Sessions this year?
If you worked less than 40 sessions doing clinical work during the year, you need to follow this advice: Low volume of clinical work
The factors for consideration template allows you to work through structured questions to demonstrate with confidence to yourself, your appraiser and responsible officer, that you are safe, up-to-date and competent at what you do, particularly if you:
- Do a low volume of a particular scope of practice, especially clinical practice
- Have an unusual or limited range of practice
- Are planning to return to a particular scope of practice after a longer break.
Roles beyond mainstream general practice
If you have one or more roles which are outside the scope of mainstream general practice, these too need to be discussed with your appraiser.
If you have had an appraisal within that role, you should submit that document to your appraiser.
Be prepared to discuss the factors for consideration template to reassure yourself and your appraiser that you are competent in all your roles.
