Face Time

Face Time can only be used on Apple products such as iPhones and iPads, so both appraiser and doctor will need one of these for Face Time to work.

It is free to use and works well for two people.

For a 2-3 hour conference, the small screen on a mobile phone may become a strain.

Video Conferencing

This is now the only way to conduct appraisals in NHS England South West and other regions.

The platform must be agreed between the appraiser and the doctor.

Make sure you have a stable broadband connection and are comfortable before you start.

The setting at both ends must be confidential.

Both doctor and appraiser must have all the supporting information at hand during the interview.

The appraiser must record that the appraisal was undertaken using technology assistance in the free text space associated with the Appraiser’s Statements in the appraisal outputs.
