Social media: Do you comply with GMC guidelines?

23/3/2017

Social media describes web-based applications that allow people to create and exchange content.

This includes blogs and microblogs (such as Twitter), internet forums (such as doctors.net), content communities (such as YouTube and Flickr), and social networking sites (such as Facebook and LinkedIn).

Consider how your use of social media complies with GMC guidance.

A simple audit for locums

21/3/2017

It can be difficult to do a meaningful audit if you are a locum because you don't know when, if ever, you will be returning to a practice to complete the cycle.

Here's a simple audit any locum can do.

Keep a record of each drug prescribed and why (ready-made spreadsheet).

Compare what was prescribed with the local formulary.
Which percentage of prescriptions were in line with the local formulary?

NB if you use no patient identifiers then you can safely take the data from place to place without needing to register with the Information Commissioner.
